Welcome, dear reader, this is our class blog!
We created it in our English classes with the supervision of our teacher, Diva Figueiredo. Why? Well, we wanted to use English and make something constructive out of our learning. Being the Net one of the places where we most hang out, we wanted to be in it, as a class, in a creative way. This way, we will post whatever our lessons inspire us to post.
Hope you enjoy your reading.
Class compliments!

Last night I had a lovely dream,
But strange as it could be,
For on the hill beside our house
Stood a great Christmas tree.
It glowed with lighted candles,
High at the top, a star,
And ‘round it, dancing in a ring,
Children from lands afar.
There were polite,
little English girls,
Swiss boys with funny skis,
Dutch children in queer wooden shoes,
Joined hands with shy Chinese.
Turkish lads is tassled fez, Tots from France and Greece and Poland,
Hey there, this is for those who like rock and guitar covers... Check this videos out of an amazing girl that know's how to play the guitar really well...
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun Now the jingle hop has begun Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square In the frosty air. What a bright time, it's the right time To rock the night away Jingle bell time is a swell time To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet Jingle around the clock Mix and a-mingle in the jingling feet That's the jingle bell, That's the jingle bell, That's the jingle bell rock.
MUSIC Last Christmas Last christmas I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy I keep my distance ut you still catch my eye Tell me baby, do you recognize me? Well, It's been a year It doesn't surprise me
Happy Christmas I wrapped it up and sent it With a note saying I love you, I meant it Now I know what a fool I've been But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again
Last christmas I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special
A crowded room. Friends with tired eyes I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice My God I thought you were someone to rely on Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart A man under cover but you tore me apart Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again
Last christmas I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special
Last christmas I gave you my heart But the very next day you gave it away This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special
A film we're going to see in class. Spanglish _ a mix of Spanish and English. What can happen when you start working in a place and you don't speak the local language? Strange, at the very least... How will Flor, the Mexican woman who decided ti try her luck in America, solve this serious problem?
Not to be missed!
Enjoy:)
something good that happens to you by chance. Phil was driving up to Manchester that evening and gave me a lift so that was a stroke of luck. By a stroke of luck, someone at work happened to be selling very cheaply exactly the piece of equipment that I needed.
Music is the only language in which you cannot say a mean or sarcastic thing. John Erskine US author & educator (1879 - 1951)
That's so right, isn't it? In fact, music is much deeper than anything you can say or think. It touches your soul, it embraces you in a sweet caress, sometimes in a turmoil of ideas and thoughts, sometimes it brings you happiness, other times sorrow and melancholy, but most of the times it has an almost sacred, healing power. Here's a challenge for you: define music. If you can...

"All I Want For Christmas Is You"
I don't want a lot for Christmas There's just one thing I need I don't care about the presents Underneath the Christmas tree I just want you for my own More than you could ever know Make my wish come true All I want for Christmas is... You

Hi there! My name’s Susana and I’m a fourteen year-old girl, I also live in Portugal. I really like to write in English and making new friends, that’s why I’m writing this letter to you. Now I’m going to talk a little bit more about me. I love music and my favourite singer is Robbie Williams and my favourite band is the Scorpions (I know they are old, but what can I say, it was love at first sting!), I like to watch the telly, sleep, eat and like I said before write. Writing is very important to me, I usually write in English, I don’t usually show what I write, for me some of the texts are like pages from a diary, that no one can read, they’re too personal but sometimes I feel that I want to scream to the world how I am, how I feel (contradictions, some of my friends say I’m a complicated girl and I think it’s true), another reason to write in English is improving mi skills and learning new words (once in a while, when I don’t have nothing to do, I put a couple of letters in the dictionary and go down the list of words, and see if there is a good word to put in my poems, you must think that I’m crazy or something like that), I also translate lyrics and other texts. English is very important because it is a global language and it may be a useful tool to work, I also have the dream one day living in a foreign country like England, I also have the love for this language, I like it so much! God bless the people that made English an international language! I have another interests like learning to play the guitar (I’m not learning yet, but the day is so close that I’m “thrilled” about it, it’s one of my biggest dreams), I’ve always wanted to listen to Scorpions my desire to learn how to play the guitar has increased a lot, I can’t think about another thing now. You must be asleep by now, so goodbye and I’m waiting for your answer.

Before anything else, thank you, grandfather. If wasn't for you, surely, today I wouldn't be who I am. I have to be graceful to have a grandfather like you. You are funny, smart and full of energy to play with me. I remember when I was younger the games we play together, the stories you told me. The moments we spend together are always special. But not always did I do the corrects things and because of that I hurt you, but above all you don't punished me, you forgave me, you gave me advices to change my attitude and it is because of it I have to say thanks to you.
I don’t know what to say, because as long as we are friends you always listened to me, always advised me and always helped me. It is very difficult to speak about every moment that we passed, because all of them are special for me … and for you (I think!). However it may be, every friendship has ups and downs, and this is not exception. We already passed lees good moments but we were a little happy. You are my best friend from what I know from you. Sometimes I surprise you and you love it! I remember each laughter, each weeping, each happy moment and … every but every moment that we lived. Friendships are not to thank but value. Thank you for everything, thank you for every moment and thank you for existing.

Live Earth is a project that involved a concert in all parts of the World. All these concerts are designed order to help save the world of global warming. Some of the singers who joined were The Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Metallica and among other Madonna. Madonna wrote a song just for the Live Earth that is called Hey You.
This is the lyrics of the song:
Hey you, Don't you give up, it's not so bad There's still a chance for us Hey you, Just be yourself, don't be so shy There's reasons why it's hard
Keep it together, you'll make it alright Our celebration is going on tonight Poets and prophets would envy what we do This could be good, hey you
Hey you, Open your heart, it's not so strange You've got to change this time Hey you, Remember this, none of it's real Including the way you feel
Keep it together, we'll make it alright Our celebration is going on tonight Poets and prophets would envy what we do This could be good, hey you
Save your soul, little sister Save your soul, little brother
Hey you, save yourself Don't rely on anyone else
First love yourself, then you can love someone else If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else But you must first love youself, then you can love someone else If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else But you must first
Hey you, They're on the fence, you've got a choice One day it will make sense Hey you, First love yourself, or if you can't, Try to love someone else
Keep it together, we'll make it alright Our celebration is going on tonight Poets and prophets will envy what we do This could be good, hey you
First love yourself, then you can love someone else If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else But you must first love youself, then you can love someone else If you can change someone else, then you have saved someone else But you must first
Must be strange to receive so many letters of people saying that they look a lot like you, understand you, know you,... My letter isn't going to be too different but I want you to know how I feel about you. When I feel bad and lost you make me happy, I just need to listen to your beatiful voice. With your charisma and strenght you give me courage and willing to face the problems and this wicked world. You entertain me with all you do, because you are a natural entertainer. In your melancholic songs you show me that I'm not alone. I really like you, y0u are my inspiration, my model(not always) and of course my favourite singer. I only feel sorry for all the bad things you've gone through but remember that all the greatest souls are full of scarves and learning from the mistakes makes you stronger. With time wounds will heal but scarves will remain, I know that remembering the past is sometimes hard. The future is the unwritten book and only you can write the next story and behind there is always a last chapter that sometimes is not good to read. You are a great singer, composer and man. So keep entertaining us!

Ludwig Lazarus Zamenhof (pronounced /ˈzɑːmɨnhɒf/ in English; born Eliezer Samenhof, December 15, 1859 – April 14, 1917) was an ophthalmologist, philologist, and the inventor of Esperanto, a constructed language designed for international communication.
As of 1975, Esperanto was taught in 600 schools to 20,000 students per year; and there were about 100 journals and 7500 books written in Esperanto, including translations from 65 languages. In addition, it had by that time been used in more than 700 international conferences. As of 2000, per Cambridge Encyclopedia, it had somewhere between 1 and 15 million speakers, according to sources referenced.
What if everybody spoke Esperanto? Imagine a world with a universal language, where you didn't have to learn any other foreign languages. Would you like it? What is Esperanto, anyway?
I can see you there. I can see through your eyes, they are so mysterious, so enigmatic…
I can see you in disguise. I don’t need to stare at you to know that you shout for help. I can see you crestfallen, looking down, when you observe the loveless faces, the loneliness, and the tired-looking nobodies.
I know, when I set my eyes on you, that you are disappointed with yourself, with everybody in general… everybody cries, everybody lies, everybody fakes. What is this, an endless succession of falseness? Damn it...
I can see that you feel sad, because you are sick of waiting for something to change. And nothing happens. Easier said than done…
I don’t need to gaze at you to know that you are a pretender, to know that you hide your feelings, your dreams, your true you. Your hair hides your face, and a part of you that you don’t want anyone to see. You keep it in silent, you keep it for yourself.
Smoke a cigarette… and another one. Vicious delicious. Burn with them your frustrations.
Drink a beer… and another one. Miraculous alcohol. Swallow with them your faults, and the others’ too.
Such sadness…
I know when I see you with that far-away look that you seek after something… carefulness, attention, kindness, love.
Who doesn’t?
I do, you too.
Is that so hard to find? Let me look deep in your eyes; let me see your soul. Let me come close to you; let me hug you; let me smell your skin; let me feel your lips with mines, let me feel your body, let me share my soul.
Let me thank you... for all of your shared disappointments, for all of your time spent with me, for all of your attention, for all of your friendship, for all of your kindness gestures. Let me thank you for forgetting your pretending, for excluding your masks, for letting me know your true you.
For being yourself, so this way I could be so happy, so alive…
